GET THE BEST BJJ EXPERIENCE IN DELAWARE FROM WHITE TO BLACK
SO HOW DO YOU EARN A BLACK BELT IN BJJ?
Something my teacher Rickson Gracie said and then later rolling taught me even more was that “You Must Flow With The Go”, Or in my own words With Jiu-Jitsu you should not insist on what you want but really take what is given. Feeling & Knowing instantly the other persons energy at the moment of contact is what I call sensitivity. As soon as I touch someone his energy is telling me so much about what he is doing and even more what he wants to do. There is not an action or movement he can make that I do not feel first and know what he is trying to do before he is even doing it. This is what I call Sensitivity.
Once you know what the person is doing, now you must have the proper technique or movement for that specific engergy. As energies change and are vast you must have a large collection of Technique & Movements in your toolbox.
Furthermore these Techniques & Movements cannot be thought about before you do them, they must be INSTINCT immediately done without thought. Ahh yes I love it when I get that. This is how an older man can beat a younger man in Jiu-Jitsu because Sensitivity & Technique are some of the attributes that actually improve with age to not only be maintained but increased as time goes by. This is why we still wrestle beyond any injury, this is the life that people who do not do Jiu-Jitsu cannot understand. The Flow and sensitivity we gain year after year is priceless.
SENSIVITY – TECHNIQUE – REACTION TIME
The Development Of This Is Measured By Belts which are EARNED and NOT given. These Belts at Dauntless are earned by the person not only being able to learn the positions, techniques and counters but also by he or she being able to flawlessly execute these techniques and counters as they flow through the positions without hesitation. Doing exactly the right thing for each energy they are faced with at that moment in the fight without having to think about it. There is a reason that our students can go to tournaments and win Godl Medals afgter only 7 months of training and this is it. Come To Dauntless and follow this same path and You Too will have an amazing ability not only to win tournaments but save your life.
THE FUNDEMENTAL COURSE
WHITE TO BLUE BELT
The Fundementals Of BJJ are the Foundations Of Your Fight and are used the most often. Some people make the mistake of over looking this material thinking that it is only basic but it is NOT. To the contrary the Foundational Skills of BJJ are just that, the rock solid foundation of your skills without which you truly could not fight properly. Here you must learn in 5 Areas
The Stand Up - How to counter strikes & grips to enter in and close on your opponent with the grip or clinch that you need to executive your technique. How to feel what he is doing before he does it and react to his energy properly with the right throw, coounter or reaction that keeps the fight to your advantage. Then how to get him/her to the ground in the position of YOUR CHOOSING and not theirs with you controling this position for your next movement.
The Mount - On Top how to ride, control and react to always keep the position again using your opponents energy to take the submission that he or she is giving. For MMA application this is expanded upon where this skill is used to maintain the position for striking as well but always leaving the option to link in a submission. On the bottom – very crucial how to Frame The Hip and control your opponent so he or she is never comfortable that they cans start striking or making submission attempts, then how to escape multiple ways in response to the multiple ways someone can ride you. Every enegery has a proper escape at that moment in time.
The Guard - ahh yes, On the Bottom – the Closed and Open variations first. How to keep your opponent in your guard no matter what he does using his energy to achieve a submission, reversal, take the back or other capitalization. On the Top – very specific, How To first acquire your base and deny him any thing, then how to achieve proper posture (up or down) and “Kill The Hips” of your opponent thus destroying any offensive ability he may have hoped to have, Next you learn how to pass while you are controling the legs but being able to react to his counters to achieve recounters to pass in other ways. This must be mastered on both knees, one knee and standing.
The Cross Body - On The Top – to ride, control and flow to maintain the position no matter what he does. Never begin put in the guard and never allowing him to get a shoulder up. Always destroying his ability to turn as you move from side to side using North South and other options as you progress to achieve submission locks as they are given. This can also be used for MMA for incredible striking opportunities. On The Bottom – How to “Frame The Hip”, take away his control and move to execute your escapes.
The Back - Offensively How To Stay There no matter what he does in both options with his belly down or his belly up. You learn how to ride and maintain this position to again use his energy to catch a large variety of submissions or striking opportunities if you want to do MMA. Defensively – immediately how to nulify his control and take away the things he needs to keep that position. Then how to execute your escapes for the particular way that he is riding your back, reacting with each movement as he changes or attempts to counter to always escape to advantageous position.
DEVELOPING THESE FOUNDATIONS ARE CRUCIAL TO YOUR ABILITY THE AVERAGE PERSON CAN DO IT IN 10-12 MONTHS & EARN THE BLUE BELT
THE INTERMEDIATE COURSE
BLUE TO PURPLE BELT
I Can Remember That Rickson Always Said That The Biggest Jump In BJJ Is From Blue To Purple.
However This Journey Can Be Shortened By The Student Properly Learning The Fundemental Course First.
Stand Up Evolution – We begin with the 7 Principals of Stand Up: Base, Movement, Grips, Sensitivity, Precision, Strategy & Counters. Here you will master a reactive base that moves instinctually to whatever grip, clinch or shoot the opponent does to shut down his attacks before they happen. Then your attacks will be in rapid succession and always in combination based off the engergy that your opponent gives in reaction to your first throw or takedown attempt. Next Followedis your development of Counters, this is to give you the ability to again immediately react to whatever throw, take-down or submission your opponent attempts on instinct to execute the proper counter that puts you in a position of advantage. Finally we top you off with all of the Stand Up & Flying submissions which now makes you even more dangerous to deal with.
Mount Evolution – Here now we go from the Basic Mount to the Fetal Mount with mutliple varitons to react to a more skilled opponent who can execute a variety of escapes. Each of our motions must be instinctive for each movement the opponent makes to respond properly. Now you are developing a much more fluid mount that moves in many ways as the person moves to catch him in a larger variety of submissions or dominating with fetal mount control to strike. On the bottom too your frames and escapes now become multiple as you must quickly react exactly with the right frame or escape for the changing enviorment that your opponent puts on you. The escapes required in this course are vast and specific to each of the variations your opponent can now do.
1/2 Guard Evolution – On the bottom how to use the “Grip” on the legs for mutliple sweeps, submissions, taking the back or manuvering your opponent in different ways. How to come out or use differnt vartiations of the 1/2 guard to achieve this in other ways. On the Top how to destroy the leg grip or turn it against your opponent. Then specific escapes if your weight is forward, on your knees and standing with special attention to the sit up guard which can occur here also.
Guard Evolution – Closed, Open, Spider Guard, De La Riva Guard, Sit Up Guard, 1/2 Guard, 1/4 Guard, Butterfly Guard, X-Guard, Broke Down Guard, Reverse Guard, Inverted Guard & More. As you go now from Blue To Purple Belt you will master all of these Guards for both the Bottom & The Top. As each of these Guards exist for a specific reason or energy you will be getting a lot of wrestling time in each of these scenarios to recreate the engery that you will feel just prior to going into one of these Guards. Then you will learn how to link each of these Guards, when to stay with one and when you should move onto another. As well on the Top you will learn each of the “Specific Escapes” each Guard requires, again here with a lot of wrestling in these Guards to develop your sensitivity for each of these Guards to react the right way isntantly without thinking in order to escape what is being presented at the moment it happens.
Cross Body Evolution – A vast amount of material as intricate as the Guard in its numerous variations and responses to different scenarios. Here beyong the Basic Cross Body you will go into the North South, Knee In The Sternum And The Unique Positions Refined By Mr. Sachetti known as “The Hybrid” and “The Hammer” which offer you a uniquely effective way to dominate from here even more. As you flow from Each Cross Body type you will learn how to take a large variety of submissions and control positions from which you strike uninteruptedly for MMA applications. On the Bottom you will learn uniqe frames and movements to execute multiple escapes from the many things you can face here. Escapes for regular side control, scarf hold, north south, knee in the belly and many others not discussed here. Again a lot of wrestlig in each of these position variations will be done for you to truly master the ability to escape these positions on instinct and without thinking.
Back & Turtle Evolution – Beyond the normal Back seen in the Fundemental course now we greatly expand your knowledge as you go from the Back to The Turtle. Offensively you will learn Turtle Front, Turtle Side and Turtler Rear to keep the person from getting anything from there but cross body bottom. Then you will master how to ride & control from Turtle Top in order to get submissions or strike uninterupted for MMA applications. On the turtle bottom you will develop an enhanced sensitivity to quickly reach your opponents energy and react with the proper escape for his energy at that specific moment in time so you can get out of that bad position and not take any damage, especially if you are in an MMA fight.
